For those who use Nokia Maps alot the 2.0 beta version has been updated to fix bugs and apparently a few new features have been added. I personally never use Nokia Maps so I don't know much about this release. I'm a huge fan of Google Maps instead. More details should come soon. Keep in mind its still in testing mode but is stable. According to the developers it's almost ready for the final version.
If your interested click here to download the latest version and be sure to report any bugs you may find so they can work them out before the final release.
Overview
Nokia Maps is taking maps and navigation experiences to the next level and introducing Walk - pedestrian navigation, in addition to Drive - world class car navigation, multimedia city guides, satellite maps and other innovative features. With free maps of more than 150 countries, over 15 million points-of-interest, the world is in your pocket. Don't get lost or choose to get lost in the right places to explore, and let Nokia Maps show you the way.
Nokia Maps 2.0 Beta comes with compatible Nokia Map Loader, also available for download from this site. With Nokia Map Loader you can get the newest map data, which is required by some Nokia Maps 2.0 features such as Walk navigation.

I tried the 2.0 beta and was terribly disappointed. Here in Thailand, the old version does navigate all over the country, the 2.0 does just Bangkok and near places around the capital. Trying to get rid of the Betaversion made me travel from Phuket to Bangkok to 'downgrade' at a Nokia Care Center. I will definetely stay away from Maps 2.0 under these circumstances. See my comments at forum.thaiguru.de (in German).
Can anyone just run us by Maps, im a N82 Newbie, with a 250 MB inclusave data pkg a month. do you use a lot of download data using nokia or google maps? im presuming you do? how do i get charged, it it just on Data usage.?
Thanks Mozzer
fritz. your comment is exactly what nokia wants to hear. go over to the beta site and leave that comment. the developers read your comments. this is why the application is still in beta. people need to be glad that nokia gives us this opportunity to voice our opinion on applications they make.
mozzer you can preload nokia maps to your phone from your computer so that you don't need a data connection. i'll look for a tutorial i'm sure theres one floating around the net somewhere. if you use google maps it uses data only so it might not be the solution for you. i'll keep you posted about a tutorial keep checking back this weekend. if you find one let me know
Thanks Mike! My smart new black machine should be with me monday so be sure ill be asking for loads of tips!!:-) carnt quite believe its actually in the UK now on Orange. for all uk readers orange are doing it for £35 per month (should be £45 but they knock £10 off if you call)silly amount of mins 1200 i think 600 texts and 250mg inclusive data not bad i think!!
