With Psiloc's Connect application your N82 will now attempt to connect to WLAN before anything else when using any application that needs internet data. The process is done in the background so you don't even really notice it's going on.Thanks to Ricky from Symbian Guru bringing this to my attention, where he links to an great article by Zach from Symbian In Motion where you can find screenshots and a review of this new application.
For only $15.77 Psiloc Connect is worth the price. There is a free trial so you can try it out and see if you think it's worth it. Keep in mind it will look for access points that you have already connected to, it doesn't search for new access points. This may be a feature that will be implemented in the future. Remember this is the first version and there will be updates available hopefully often.
I personally haven't got much use out of this application yet since I am not in areas with many access points, so if you have any technical questions you can head over and ask Zach at Symbian In Motion.
Would you find this application useful? Do you find yourself sometimes use your data connection because your just too lazy too search for a WLAN or maybe just forget?

I think it would come handy if it searched for new access points. But it's illegal in Finland to use private access points without permission from the owner. Not that you're likely to get caught (or that I wouldn't do it ;) but just wanted you to know.
So this application is no use for me.
Hah? I always make sure that my phone ask for access point before browsing any web pages with my n82. Every n82 should have this function, right?
I think you don't understand what this does exactly. The point of this application is to not have every applciation ask for an access point, you set the applications to use psiloc connect automatically, always. The application figures out whether to use wlan, or 3G if wlan is not available, automatically and transparent to the user. The point of the application is to not having to select an access point every time.
It's a mystery why this functionality is not build into the os. Imagine the same behavior on a desktop system (the N82 is more than comparable to a desktop systems :-)
I almost never use the wlan connection because of the annoying prompt.
I have not bought any apps for my n82 yet, (well, except ftp, mstsc...)but this one would easily worth the price.
(written on Opera Mini...)
I don't understand the point with:
"But it's illegal in Finland to use private access points without permission from the owner."
Cause I use it to connect to different well known AP's here when I walk around (Bar, Hotel, ...). Also in my home environment I have two LEGAL accesspoints, I can use and this little programm decides/helps.
Haven't tried it yet, but I'd like the app to automatically use (free) WLAN(s) if available, and let it ask me to connect to 3G (or any other payed connection)
