I'm always wondering what percentage of S60 and Nseries users actually pay for applications. Symbian S60 3rd Edition has a ton of 3rd party applications and most of them are commercial. As you know there is a good handful of freeware applications that are excellent and I try to bring them to you as they are released.
I'm going to put up a poll in the right column asking you if you buy applications or just install freeware. Please Vote!
I personally don't buy applications unless they are absolutely necessary to me. Handy Taskman, Best Taskman, Panoman, TextQuick, and a few others I have purchased. Reason I'm asking is I may start talking about more commercial applications here, I just want to know if it's worth it and you guys are interested.
Do you pay for applications? How often if ever? Which ones have you purchased and after using them do you think it's worth the money?

When I first got into the smartphones (it was a BlackBerry 7100t) I actually paid for a software to read RSS feeds. This is 4 years back so free applications were much harder to find unless you have a Palm Treo or PDA.
Now days, there are enough smart folks developing cool and free apps to where I would not need to buy. And as we move into more web-based solution (ie. iPhone widgets) there is less of a need to pay for them. I'd want to say 9 out of 10 free apps end up performing better than paid ones....

And will buy symsmb when they implement streaming from mapped network disks so that I could watch movies from my home server via WiFi.
why would you want to watch movies at home on your phone? i'd rather watch movies at home on my big screen in hd.
I paid for 2 applications: The first was LCG Jukebox which I am really happy with. The second was Psiloc Connect, which I had to remove from my N82 in the meantime. PC is a good idea, but it kept my mobile from booting properly. Sometimes it came up, but after the last update of the software it would not start anymore, time for Green-Star-Three-Switch-On :-( Luckily I made a complete backup yesterday...
There are so many software which are still so buggy. Will not do what its supposed to do. Sample is call recorder, they said "no beep recording" but, it still will beep. There were some that won't beep but, hangs your phone. Overall, unstable.
Who would want to buy something like that?
just bought panoman and it will be the last software i'll purchase for my n82 (all are expensive and featureless!)
never. y? because i dont have credit card =)
Yes, at the right price, I've bought several (Route66, ProfiMail, Papyrus, etc.), and will continue to buy if I want and/or need them. Why wouldn't I? My phone has become much more to me than a phone... thanks, S60 ;).
I haven't had my N82 long, but I bought Profimail recently which I'm very happy with.
