Nokia PC Suite has been updated a few weeks ago and it sure is a dandy. The new version is 6.86.9.0 and brings a few welcome additions. Just to clear things up before you read on this isn't the Nseries PC Suite that probably came with your phone, this the standard Nokia PC Suite. I find this program runs faster and smoother, especially on older computers with less RAM. I prefer this version over the Nseries version.
You can now view text messages and reply to text messages all from your computer, making it easy to type out texts on the fly instead of picking up your phone. You can also view calendar entries, but you can't add or delete any. Hopefully they implement this in the future.
Just because of these two new features I have found myself using PC Suite more. And you can also connect your phone to PC Suite via bluetooth so you won't need any wires. File transfers, internet connections, text messages, everything works over bluetooth. Very handy I think.
I have also found myself using the Photo Transfer tool in PC Suite a lot more. Older versions used to crash my computer, but this one is working a lot more smoothly.

Is the Nokia PC Sync in this PC Suite compatible with the N82? The previous version wasn't so.
Yes, it is! And it works really much better. The N-Series Suite is not half as good, slow and not thought out, feels like a bad beta version!
i already owned a sony ericsson P1i. After reading your blog for a few times, i got myself an N82 and what a phone it is! And i agree to you about the PC suite. The normal one is better. The N series one has a bit confusing user interface imo. Thanks for the posts. Keep up the good work :)
This is going to be the dealbreaker for me. Previously I was using a 9300 because I am a businessman with a heavy amount of texting daily. I sell IT solutions and often I have to type a lengthy message containing specifications and technicalities to my client.
I thought about the N82 at first, but haven't decided yet if I want it because I think I am going to need a QWERTY phone, so I was leaning more towards E90. But after trying this new Suite, my fears are gone and now I can buy a N82 Black with confidence. I'll just connect my N82 with my laptop any day in the office and type my messages directly from my laptop. Problem solved! Thank you Nokia!
glad to see you guys are enjoying this version as much as I am. hopefully the next version brings us the oppurtinity to add/edit calendar entries.
Installed it at home on XP and it's great! Now if only it would install on Windows 2003 Server, where I do all of my Calendar synching (my office's SOE is 2003 Server). I've had to go back to the NSeries version (and update Blue Soleil software for my bluetooth dongle).
the ability to create, read, and send messages using the nokia pcsuite was already available as early as version 6.83. Also managing of contacts. The calendar is the real new feature on this version. :-)
Hi Guys,
To encourage more, Nokia has come up with Nokia Communication Centre, a application which is for Message and Contacts editor but this application is still in Beta labs, hope soon it may go live and it will come along with Nokia PC Suite in the near future.
yes I've tried the communication centre before and so far it looks like it's going to be a great addition to Nokia PC Suite.
