Freeware: Get A Larger Time Screensaver Than The Standard One

It's quite obvious that the built in time screensaver on the Nokia N82 is small and pretty ridiculous to see. I can't see it unless I pick the phone up off my desk and look closer. There are two solutions that you can try and see which you like better. Both need to be signed yourself with Open Signed, see the solution I posted yesterday for signing applications on your N82.

The first application that I've been using for awhile now is called Large Time. It displays the time, date, missed calls, and message notifications. It doesn't use a backlight just like the built-in screensaver doesn't. Despite not having a backlight option, it's still easy to see and doesn't use any power.

The next application was brought to my attention by Vlad from S60 Info. This screensaver is called cClock and is very similar to Large Time Screensaver. Cclock does give you more options with the ability to have the battery power and a stopwatch on your screensaver, and much more. I'm still trying out cClock myself so I'm not sure which I like better yet. Update: I've tried out cClock and now like it alot better than Large Time. You have more options and I think the clock is more clear to read. Like a commenter said it uses less energy than the built in clock if you keep everything at the smallest settings, so even if your not interested in having large time this application will save you energy - 25% less when using the smallest settings compared to the built in clock.

Click here to download and read more about cClock Screensaver.

Once you have either installed go to
Tools>Settings>General>Personalisation>Themes>Powersaver and select your screensaver there.

I hope you enjoy these applications, they are going to be your most used.

I just installed cClock and I have to say that I'm really impressed. I don't use it as a huge clock but I wanted to extend my standby-time so I only activated the (small) icons and used all the possible powersavings. The result:
- original screensaver: 0.08W
- cClock as screensaver: 0.06W

That's 25% more standbytime ;-). Thanks for the link!

Which is better for the LCD Screen/Power Saving?

"White on Black", or "Black on White"

i would say the white on black dan, but i can't be certain. i use the one with mostly dark in the background. if you keep it set at "always on top" and you push the first unlock button the backlight will come on with the time instead of showing part of the standby screen like before. i think thats great for checking the time in the dark without having to unlock.

Hey Mike,

Yea the Always on Top function is nice, but the author notes that it uses more power.
