Gosh dang Mr-X from FinestFones.com has really been on top of things lately. He found a video showing the Nokia N81 with menu transitions just like the Nokia N78 and upcoming Feature Pack 2 phones. There are so many questions to be asked here...
First off will the Nokia N82 receive a similar update to allow for FP2 transitions?
Does this mean that the N81 has Feature Pack 2, or is it still Feature Pack 1 but just with new transitions?
Can it be turned off the slick transitions if we get sick of them?
I'm sure many of you will have more questions. Check out the video of the N81 and transitions...
This is really interesting news and will be huge if the Nokia N82 gets this update. I don't see why it wouldn't since the N81 did. This is a much needed update since many complaints around the mobile industry about Nseries phones is the lack of glitz and glamor in the in the Symbian S60 UI. I'll keep posting updates as they come.
Mobile-review.com has mentioned about a month ago that FP2 on N82 is possible. Hope it is coming our way soon.

ReplyDeleteBut without bugs we need it,cos the Latest update for the N95 8GB is very disappointing,this keeps on happening with most of their updates.So hope we'll receive it after full pre-testing this time.

ReplyDeleteIt seems that n82 might get a full change from fp1 to fp2. It is indeed possible. Eldar also said that this is possible, so lets hope for the best. ]

what is fp2 and does it install more apps on my phone?
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though this firmware isn't fully available for all N81 regions. I think right now Nokia testing it to see how it works out in the real world.
ReplyDeleteFP2 is the next version of S60 3rd Edition that powers our phones interface. The N82 and N95 currently have FP1. The new Nokia N78 and N96 are the first phones to have Feature Pack 2. There are slight improvements to firmware that apparently are being added to FP1 phones.
sounds awesome i do like the rotate animation just seems smoother dont know if it will get annoying but that's currently the only thing i want lol!

Hope they change the default option on my N82's camera's flash? Currently it's always on and I have heard it can't be turned off as default.

i think the n81 got the FP2 update couse it got nevi wheel but n82 doesn't ... but it still not a good reazon ...
